DeKalb County, Illinois offers IDNR permitted hunting of deer, doves, fur bearing, and ducks. Turkey trapping and goose hunting are also permitted. These activities are permitted on private lands with owner permissions. There are also two public access areas, a hunt club, and youth and ladies hunts with Pheasants Forever.
There are two public access hunting areas for hunters to enjoy with a public access IDNR issued windshield permits and reporting requirements. Shabbona Lake State Park, DeKalb's front door park in Shabbona, Illinois has all the amenities of a popular state park. Kishwaukee River State Fish and Wildlife Area on the north end of the county in Kirkland Illinois offers a more rugged hunting experience.
