DeKalb County Hunting Opportunities.
DeKalb County, Illinois offers IDNR permitted hunting of deer, doves, fur bearing, and ducks. Turkey trapping and goose hunting are also permitted. These activities are permitted on private lands with owner permissions. There are also two public access areas, a hunt club, and youth and ladies hunts with Pheasants Forever.
There are two public access hunting areas for hunters to enjoy with a public access IDNR issued windshield permits and reporting requirements. Shabbona Lake State Park, DeKalb's front door park in Shabbona, Illinois has all the amenities of a popular state park. Kishwaukee River State Fish and Wildlife Area on the north end of the county in Kirkland Illinois offers a more rugged hunting experience.
Hunt Illinois
Gumfarm in Genoa, Illinois offers membership packages to the hunting club for discerning hunters. There is pheasant and chukar hunting on 7 hunting areas as well as a trap shooting. Gum Farm is open October 1 through March 31. See their website for further information.

Young beginning hunters can watch for youth hunt opportunities offered by DeKalb County Pheasants Forever at Gumfarm Hunt Club. This is an opportunity for youth to engage in hunting alongside experienced hunters with safety review, trap shooting, and an actual hunt at no cost. Participation is limited so watch for updates and register early on the Facebook page at the link below.
DeKalb County Pheasants Forever
Youth and ladies can participate in the LaSalle County Pheasants Forever two day wingshooting clinic at Shabbona Lake SP. The boys and girls clinic is on Saturday and the ladies on Sunday. Instructors are professionals and a small fee covers equipment and supplies. Reservations are limited so follow them on Facebook and sign up early when registration opens.
